To the editor:
There was an article published in The Arab American News on March 6 about Martin Kramer of Harvard University – (Harvard fellow calls for genocidal measure to curb Palestinian births). Kramer suggested at a conference that the United Nations halt all pro natal subsidies to the Palestinian territories in order to curb the number of Palestinian births. In other words the Palestinian people should not be born and they do not have the right to life. The professor is making these deplorable comments based on the fear that the occupied Palestinian people might one day become the overwhelming majority in a land where the evil occupier thinks that the land is his God given-right.
If the occupiers would stop killing Palestinian babies by the dozens, the Palestinian people might curb their own births. They might not have so many babies if they were allowed to keep the ones they already have. When China limited their population to being only allowed to have one child each, many countries around the world were outraged, including the United Nations.
What is more repulsive than the actual remarks made by Kramer is that he carries the name of Harvard University. Isn’t Harvard University disgraced to have this professor among its spokespeople?
We as a community need to wake up and open our eyes to the injustice that happens under our noses. Professors who teach in our most prestigious universities should not get away with outrageous comments like the ones made by Kramer. Letters, emails, and phone calls of outrage should be bombarding Harvard University, and we should be demanding that disciplinary action be taken. Who will be the voice for the children who have no voice?
