DEARBORN —With State Representative Gino Polidori at his term limit, five Democrats and a Republican will be contending for his seat as Representative of the 15th State House district.
George T. Darany |
Dearborn City Council member George T. Darany, Dearborn business owner Hope Buxton, and former Dearborn City Charter Commissioner Stephen Dobkowski, are all contending for the Democratic nomination in the primary election August 3rd.
Darany, 53, has served on Dearborn City Council for the past three years.
“I’m running because Dearborn needs a voice in Lansing that understands all of its needs,” said Darany, “and my background and experience will help me be that voice. Business, education, government and community concerns must all be addressed.”
Buxon, 66, is owner and operator of Dearborn Towers Hair Salon, is a political operative and has worked in several Democratic campaigns including for Mayor John O’Reilly and former President Bill Clinton
“I’m worried about jobs. I see the empty buildings. What I’d like to see is Dearborn moving forward and I don’t see that right now,” Buxton said.
Dobkowski is former member of the Wayne County Social Service Board and alumnae of the Michigan State University. He has stated that he wants to end the brutal budget cuts.
“The strategy that I am focused on in my campaign is the creation of a state of Michigan development bank,” he said. “The bank would make business loans to Michigan businesses and provide lines of credit with community banks and credit unions. I think that is absolutely essential to grow jobs in Michigan.”
Other Democrats who are running include former School Board member Alex Shami and retired school teacher Linda Tefelski.
Suzanne Sareini |
Sareini will not contend against any other Republicans in the primary but will contend with the winner of the Democratic primary on the November 2nd general election.
