Newark — In a fight scheduled for eight rounds at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center, Yemeni American and former U.S. Olympian Sadam “World Kid” Ali (9-0, 5 KOs) knocked out Lenin Arroyo (20-13-1, 4 KOs) of Costa Rica in the Welterweight Division. Ali moved well throughout the fight and staggered Arroyo in the second round with a clean left hook to the head. In the fifth round, Ali doubled up on the left hook, hitting the game but outmatched Arroyo first in the head and then with another— sweet, hard and high on the ribcage. Arroyo took a step backwards, froze and dropped to his knee from the body shot, then failed to make the count of ten. The fight was on the undercard of the Tomasz Adamek vs. Michael Grant heavyweight bout; 10,972 attended the event which was also available on pay-per-view TV.
