Sabbagh put up game-high numbers with five touchdowns and over 200 yards rushing while also adding 15 tackles on defense. The 13-year-old Sabbagh played in the second annual Football University Youth All-American Bowl in January 2010 in San Antonio, Texas after submitting his highlight tape and being selected as one of 44 participants. Sabbagh said at a recent practice that he plans on working and staying humble with the goal of starting at Fordson High School and eventually making a run at a college scholarship to a top school like Texas or Florida.
Also on championship Saturday, the junior varsity squad of 10 and 11-year-olds brought home a title of their own, relying on their defense in a win over host Allen Park. Mohamed Amen and Mike Jaafar each scored touchdowns in the team’s 12-0 win.
The freshman team of 8 and 9-year-olds didn’t fare quite as well, however, as Huron River defeated the Lions by a score of 35-12. Mohamed Elzayat and Abe Jaafar each scored touchdowns for Dearborn.
