The American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee’s Michigan (ADC-MI) office announced that attorney Shareef Akeel, a long-time friend and contributor to ADC, was appointed as the new Advisory Board Chairman. Akeel has tackled issues regarding immigration, First Amendment protections, religious organations’ rights, discrimination, and more.
He gained international attention representing those who were tortured in the infamous Abu Ghraib prison scandal, where the case is now pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Akeel said he looked forward to working for ADC and fighting for every American’s rights while upholding the values of the Constitution.
