The program Global Detroit could benefit from Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder’s new plan to attract and keep immigrants with advanced degrees in Michigan. Global Detroit’s objective is to make the city a more welcoming region for immigrants and boost the economy. 

Snyder requested that state officials create a new initiative that will push immigrants with advanced college degrees to move to Michigan and pursue careers. Supporters of Snyder’s plan say immigrants with advanced degrees in areas of math, science and technology can help launch new businesses in the high tech industry.
