CHICAGO — The popular Sears department store may consider moving its headquarters out of Illinois according to various reports, and Dearborn and Southfield are among the cities hoping to land the company.
Sears is said to be considering the move since Illinois raised its corporate taxes.
One possible site is Regent Court in Dearborn, a Ford office building on Ford Road. If such a move were to happen, approximately 5,000 jobs could be brought to the region. A possible move would likely occur in 2012 and several other locations are being considered.
