DEARBORN — Sanford-Brown College will host the 2011 Michigan Dialysis Summit along with DaVita Dialysis and Dialysis Patient Citizens to raise awareness about renal disease, kidney health disparities, and more on August 12.
Over 12,500 people in Michigan suffer from end stage renal disease, which is believed to be incurable and is estimated to affect more than 500,000 people in America. Chronic kidney disease and ESRD, also known as kidney failure can be caused by a number of factors including diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, family history and more.
The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. with breakfast and registration at 10 a.m. Speakers will include U.S. Rep John Conyers, Jr. and experts in kidney treatment.
