DETROIT — Wayne County Circuit Judge Bruce Morrow last week ordered Roger Stockham to remain in a psychiatric hospital until he is either committed or fit to stand trial.
Stockham had been found with high-end explosive fireworks in his vehicle near the Islamic Center of America in January after telling witness Joe Nahhas that he was planning a “big explosion” nearby. Nahhas then called the police on Stockham, who was arrested.
Stockham suffers from post-traumatic stress and bipolar disorders and has a long history of violent behavior including planting explosives at an airport in Reno, blowing up a tanker at an oil refinery and making various other threats. He has also escaped from a mental hospital in the past.
Stockham has denied the charges and has been charged with making a false report or threat of terrorism in the incident and possessing explosives with unlawful intent.
