LANSING — The state Capitol has been the site of a raging debate over whether or not Michigan’s no-fault auto insurance law should be changed, according to local reports.
With the economy struggling particularly in Michigan, many have said that they would choose to underinsure themselves in order to save money according to a study conducted by opponents of the measure. The study also says that the state would lose hundreds of millions of dollars should the changes take effect.
Those who support the potential law want drivers to have a choice to opt out of coverage providing lifetime benefits for severe injury accident victims.
