DEARBORN — Bint Jebail Cultural Center will be the site of the Arab American Political Action Committee’s 14th Annual Endorsement Banquet on Friday, Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m. as the organization will highlight its choices for key local races and proposals while honoring outstanding public servants.

The organization will honor State Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Detroit) with the Public Service Award on the evening for her work in support of immigrants’ rights, Arab Americans, American Muslims and her constituents in southwest Detroit. Community Service Awards will go to ‘Fordson: Faith, Fasting, Football’ Director Rashid Ghazi, Magistrate and Probation Director of the 20th District Court in Dearborn Heights Zenna Faraj Elhasan, and President of the NAACP of Detroit Rev. Wendell Anthony.
Student volunteers will also be hosted at the event this year, with most of them coming from schools and organizations the Arab Student Union at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and/or the Arab American Student Union at Wayne State University. Local high school students also have been among those who graciously have offered to help the organization pass out literature at the polls.
