DETROIT — A one-week extension has been granted for protesters and organizers at Occupy Detroit, which is based out of Grand Circus Park.
Participants had expected to provide heating through late fall and early winter days in the eatly days of the movement, but they now are looking at possible plans to move into an office space on Woodward downtown or a 50-unit hotel in Southwest Detroit, all of which were donated to the movement.
The group had wanted two weeks to clear up the park before being forced to move and to find housing some homeless people in the area but they have been told to leave by Nov. 21 which is just a few days before Detroit’s downtown Thanksgiving parade. The group’s attorney told local media that an appeal may occur if the group is not prepared to move by that date.
