DEARBORN — After being preserved in a vote earlier this month, Dearborn’s Civil Service Commission is now seeking applications from people interested in serving on the voluntary board, which generally sets the policies for hiring, promoting and terminating certain City of Dearborn employees.
Under the City Charter, the four current commissioners appoint a fifth commissioner.
City residency is required to serve on the commission and the commissioners cannot be current City employees. The commissioners serve a four-year term without compensation. Meetings are typically the third Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. at City Hall.
The City Charter provides that: “At least two of the five members shall have a background in human resources or executive management experience.”
People interested in applying for the appointment should fill out the application and send it to: Civil Service Commission, Human Resources Department, 4500 Maple, Suite 7, Dearborn, MI 48126.
The deadline is Dec. 31, 2011. For more information, please call the Human Resources Department at 313.943.2053.
