DETROIT – Gov. Rick Snyder doesn’t want Michigan to become a right to work state, he told a caller on WRD radio’s Frank Beckmann Show. Snyder said he doesn’t want Michigan to repeat what happened in Wisconsin and Ohio where anti-union bills have led to great division.
Last month, Ohio discarded laws limiting collective bargaining rights of works and Wisconsin’s governor Scott Walker is also dealing with a recall effort for similar issues.
Snyder is optimistic about business tax cuts coming into play on Jan. 1 and said that most new jobs in Michigan aren’t in unionized areas. He didn’t say whether or not he’d veto a measure, however.
