The United States government is spending at least $2 billion to build a new spying megaplex in a quiet Utah mountain town, giving it the ability to sift through billions of communications between private citizens.

Information about the top secret facility in Bluffdale, Utah is scarce according to a recent report from ‘Wired’ magazine, but it is known that the center will be the country’s largest and will house more than 100,000 square feet of servers alone, and it will be entirely self-sustaining.

The amount of data accumulated by the center’s systems will be way more than human eyes will be able to process, however, certain Internet buzzwords or other “suspicious” activity will be monitored which could lead to a response from officials.

The facility can reportedly sift through one yottabyte, or 10^24 bytes, of data. Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt estimated that all human knowledge from the beginning of mankind to 2003 totals just 1/200,000th of a yottabyte according to a report from tecca.com, a tech website.
