DEARBORN — Roger Stockham, 64 of California, the man accused of making a terror threat against the Islamic Center of America, accepted a plea deal last Friday.
Stockham had been arrested outside of the ICA last January after a local bar owner heard him mention a pending explosion at the center in a bar nearby to owner Joe Nahhas.
Stockham plead guilty but mentally ill in the deal and is now in federal custody. He was found with high-explosive illegal fireworks in his car at the time.
Stockham is a Vietnam War veteran who has had his mental fitness questioned over various incidents in the past; he also claimed to have trained with the Mujahadeen in Indonesia after his Vietnam stint.
The case may lead to a probation violation stemming from a federal case in 2002 against Stockham in which he was accused of making threats against President George W. Bush and veterans officials in Vermont according to a WWJ report.
