Muskegon – A Michigan woman tried to hire a hit man to kill her husband this past April. In a video that was released on Tuesday July 6, 20-year-old Julia Charlene Merfeld, of Muskegon, tells an undercover police detective, posing as a hit man, that killing her husband would be “easier than a divorce.”

Merfeld provided the detective with her address and a layout of her house’s floor plan. She told him, “As terrible as it sounds, I don’t have to worry about my family judgment. I don’t have to worry about breaking his heart.”

Merfeld, who pleaded guilty to soliciting murder in June, was planning to use $50,000 of her husband’s $400,000 life insurance policy to finance the murder. She could face up to six years in prison when she is sentenced on July 30.
