MICHIGAN — On Tuesday, the Republican-controlled State Senate decided not to give immediate effect to Medicaid expansion, which passed last week. The expansion was scheduled to take place Jan. 1. 

Now hundreds of thousands of low-income Michigan adults will have to wait a few additional months to qualify for health insurance, provided under the new federal health care law.  Those who are eligible may have to wait until late March, or early April to qualify.
