As special agent in charge, Miller, a 22-year veteran of federal law enforcement, supervises a cadre of special agents located in six Michigan and Ohio offices. HSI special agents protect national security and enforce immigration and customs laws by conducting criminal investigations in various mission areas, such as: drug smuggling, illegal exporting munitions and high-tech items, money laundering, financial crimes, transnational gangs, human smuggling and trafficking, intellectual property rights, and crimes against children including child sex tourism and possessing child pornography.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to lead a group of talented special agents and support staff in Michigan and Ohio,” said Miller. “I look forward to being able to continue to leverage the tremendous resources and expertise of this agency to make a tangible impact on public safety and national security in Detroit and around the region.” He added that he is looking forward to working with various law enforcement agencies to protect the country.
Prior to accepting the position as HSI special agent in charge in Detroit, Miller was the deputy special agent in charge in HSI Dallas. In that position, he maintained operational and administrative oversight of investigative divisions in both North Texas and the state of Oklahoma.
Miller is a member of the Senior Executive Service. He recently relocated to the metro Detroit area with his wife.
