BEIRUT – Hizbullah’s bloc took an indirect swipe Thursday at the March 14 coalition, which it accused of attempting to justify recent car bombings in the country particularly Tuesday’s attack against the Iranian Embassy.
Hizbullah, which issued a statement after its weekly meeting in the Beirut suburb of Haret Hreik, also called on rival groups to respond to National Dialogue calls in order to develop a unified vision for the country’s future.
“Providing excuses for terrorist attacks is one of the most malicious and dangerous means of soft war,” MP Hasan Fadlallah said, reading the bloc’s weekly statement.
“[Such an approach] justifies the crimes of terrorists on one hand and prepares the people to gradually be subject to their conditions,” he added.
The March 14 coalition and former Prime Minister Saad Hariri have said that Tuesday’s twin suicide bombings against the Iranian Embassy in Beirut should prompt groups to reconsider military interference in Syria.
In the statement, the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc also called on Lebanese to face the terrorist attacks by strengthening their will instead of giving in by adopting such a “miserable policy.”
Condemning the attack against the Iranian embassy, the bloc described the suicide bombings as “a clear proof of the identity of the planners and executors who are doing a service to the Zionists by murdering without a purpose and inciting strife in Arab and Muslim countries.”
