The former head of the Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee of Michigan, Imad Hamad announced
today that he is no longer with the civil rights group. Attorney Fatina
Abedrabboh is now the new ADC-Michigan Director. A statement released by Hamad
today read, “First and foremost, I extend my sincere congratulations to the new
ADC-Michigan Director Attorney Fatina Abedrabboh, I heartily welcome her to ADC
and wish her all success in her new endeavor.”
“Given my 17 years of unwavering commitment to the mission of
ADC and my devotion to achieve its objectives, at a level equal and more often
higher than that I have given to my personal and family priorities, it is time
for me to move on towards another avenue of serving our people. Plans will be
revealed in the near future. Make no mistake that I take pride of my work and
contributions. I am very determined to continue my role and service,” Hamad continued.
The Arab American News learned that a statement was issued earlier
today that read, “Imad Hamad is retiring from ADC and is no longer with
ADC as of today, the 22nd of November, 2013. We acknowledge his many years of
service.”
The announcement comes in the wake of a sexual harassment scandal that has rocked ADC for months. Several women have come forward alleging that Hamad sexually harassed them while serving as the head of ADC Michigan.
