DEARBORN — The Dearborn Public School board began the year with a brief organizational meeting to select new officers.

Hussein Berry was selected as Board President. Trustee James Schoolmaster assumed the role of Vice-President. Thirteen year Board veteran Aimee Schoelles is the new Board Secretary and Trustee Roxanne McDonald takes on the duties of Board Treasurer. Board members serve in their officer position for one year and serve on the Board for a term of six years.
School Board members in Dearborn develop policies and make tough decisions that help shape the future of our education system. They bear responsibility for an annual budget of $170 million, and supervise the affairs of 19,400 students, more than 2,400 employees and 34 buildings in the Dearborn Public Schools. In addition, they oversee Henry Ford Community College.
“The Dearborn Board of Education trustees are an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to providing a quality education to all children in our classrooms and truly believe that all students can succeed,” Dearborn Public Schools Superintendent Brian Whiston said.
