DETROIT—On Monday, April 21 Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano will announce plans to run for reelection at the IBEW Local 58 located at 1358 Abbott in Detroit. The event kicks off at 5 p.m.
In an email, Ficano told supporters he was inviting them to join him in continuing the momentum of moving the county forward.
“While we have had challenges like many administrations, we are reenergized, focused and determined to continue our mission of making Wayne County the best place to work, live and raise a family,” Ficano said. “We all need to come together not to point fingers, but to join hands as one team, in the interest of fairness, transparency, accountability, and opportunity.”
The FBI is currently investigating Ficano’s administration for corruption. Since the federal probe was launched in 2011, key members of Ficano’s administration have resigned.
The list of candidates that have already joined the race includes Westland mayor William Wild, Wayne County Commissioner Kevin McNamara, and State Representative Phil Cavanagh.
