WEST BLOOMFIELD — Shatila Bakery has expanded with a second location that recently opened in West Bloomfield. Riad Shatila, the founder and owner of the internationally renowned Middle Eastern sweet shop passed away last year, but his wife and daughters are expanding and improving the business. The flagship store is located in Dearborn.
Shatila came to the United States in 1977, looking to build a business with nothing more than a high school education in Lebanon. He had a passion for Middle Eastern sweets and wanted to incorporate that into his new business. The first Dearborn location opened nearly more than three decades ago.
The company also has a manufacturing location in Dearborn as well that ships products nationally and internationally. Shatila Bakery is not affiliated with any other locations outside of Dearborn and West Bloomfield.
