DETROIT — The Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) Division of Student Services’ Student Executive Council hosted the Annual Community Thanksgiving Luncheon on Wednesday, Nov.26.
The event, entitled “Come Dine With Us”, is a fall harvest style luncheon and took place at WCCCD’s Downtown Campus.
The annual Community Thanksgiving Luncheon is a traditional way for the community to come together and offer thanks and blessings for the year. The luncheon has drawn a capacity crowd over the years since its inception.
“The Division of Student Services’ Student Executive Council, together with the our Wildcat Athletes, are honored to host this tradition program that brings together people,” said Brian Singleton, WCCCD’s vice chancellor for the Division of Student Services. “We are also honored not only as an educational institution, but a place where people can come together to fellowship with one another.”
The Michigan Chronicle’s senior editor, Bankole Thompson, led a host of volunteer servers at the occasion, including Detroit City Clerk Janice Winfrey; Walter Middlebrook, assistant managing editor of the Detroit News; Osama Siblani, publisher of The Arab American News and Vickie Thomas, city beat reporter at WWJ Newsradio 950, among others.
“This is a great community service and the college should be commended for this,” Thompson said.
The luncheon is offered at no cost to participants.
