The “Islamic State” released a list of 100 U.S. soldiers with their names and home addresses, urging its followers to attack them. The list prompted cautions for heightened security measures in the cities where the military members reside. A Dearborn soldier is on the “hit list.”
The Associated Press reported that the Pentagon is contacting the service members on the list to alert them.
Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Monday the names, photos and addresses of the U.S. military members were not taken from confidential government files.
“The information that was posted by ISIL was information taken from social websites and publicly available,” Carter said. “It wasn’t stolen from any (Defense Department) websites or any confidential databases.”
An army spokesperson said the list could bring the violence to U.S. soil.
“We need to take this very seriously and it’s very scary because it’s bringing the war back home,” former state representative and Army Lt. Col. Rocky Raczkowski told WWJ.
“With ISIS asking anyone that is a friend or even a foe of ISIS to take action is basically like the mob taking a hit list on someone that would testify against a criminal actor.”
Another soldier from Michigan also appears on the terrorist group’s list.
