DETROIT—Osama Siblani, publisher of The Arab American News (TAAN), will appear on
WXYZ Channel 7’s program, Spotlight Sunday, April 19. Siblani
will join WXYZ Editorial/Public Affairs Director Chuck Stokes to discuss the
2016 White House race, TAAN’s upcoming 30th anniversary dinner and Proposition
1.
A special election will be held for Proposition 1 on May 5. The
measure seeks to raise taxes for Michigan’s deteriorating roads and bridges. The
anniversary dinner is Thursday, April 23 at the Bint Jebail Cultural Center in
Dearborn.
Stokes
and Siblani will also discuss the history of the paper over the last three
decades and its impact on metro-Detroit’s Arab and Muslim communities.
The
segment was shot at WXYZ’s new studio in downtown Detroit inside the Qube Building on Woodward
Avenue.
Spotlight
on the News, now in its 50th season, is Michigan’s longest-running weekly news
and public affairs television program. It airs every Sunday at 10 a.m.
on WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 in Detroit and 2:30 p.m. on 23.1 WKAR-HD in East Lansing
and 6 p.m. on 23.2 WKAR World.
