DETROIT—A GoFundMe account has been created to
raise money for Dearborn Heights resident Khalil Baydoun, a longtime Boy Scout
leader and mentor with medical problems.
Baydoun struggles with blood clots in his lungs and
both arms. He also has Trigeminal neuralgia, a chronic pain condition that is
difficult to treat. Baydoun, a scoutmaster has a wife and three kids.
The account, Help My Mentor: Hajj Khalil Baydoun
was created by Ibrahim Hassan. Over the years Baydoun has been a mentor to
Hassan and countless other young men.
Hassan described Baydoun as determined and
trustworthy. “He inspires confidence in you,” Hassan said.
Baydoun, has been guiding and mentoring young men
as a boy scout leader for more than 15 years. The program he is involved in
brings together young men who are between the ages of 5-18 years old.
“He has ran this group efficiently, and I am
privileged to say he guided me into becoming an Eagle Scout. This is my way of
giving back to him,” Hassan said. The goal is to raise $15,000. As of Tuesday $4,170 was raised.
