WEST BLOOMFIELD—On Monday, a federal magistrate
denied bond for Matthew Kuppe, the 21-year-old man who worked as a camp
counselor at the Detroit Jewish Community Center (JCC). Kuppe is accused of
taking photos of naked young boys in a locker room while working as a counselor.

He was posting the photos of 5-year-old boys on a
Russian website. The photos were taken during a camp sleepover.

An undercover officer exchanged emails with Kuppe, whose email
address is “jcclockerroom@gmail.com”, and asked about one of the boys in the
photos.

In one email, “jcclockerroom” wrote that he bounced a naked boy
on his lap.

“I only get to touch him a few times,” he said, adding that he also
purposely dropped something and made the boy pick it up.

He also said he had more pictures, but that the undercover agent
would need to send some, first.

Police are not revealing how many victims there are. In email
exchanges with the undercover officer, Kuppe described how he sexually abused
one boy as he was changing out of his clothes and said he planned to perform
oral sex on the child.
