After former state Rep. Cindy Gamrat, R-Plainwell, was expelled from the Michigan House last week, she filed to run in the special election to fill her old seat.  

The Grand Rapids Press and Kalamazoo Gazette editorial boards, whose newspaper coverage areas include the 80th district Gamrat represented, published a joint editorial on her re-election bid.
