AUBURN HILLS — According to reports, a Clarkston woman has been charged with firing a pistol at a shoplifter at a Home Depot on Oct. 6.
Fox 2 News reported that Tatiana Duva-Rodriquez, 46, who has a concealed pistol license, faces an open count of reckless use of a weapon and handling or discharge of a firearm.
After witnessing a man push a cart of unpaid for merchandise outside the store doors, Duva-Rodriquez fired at the shoplifter’s dark-colored SUV.
There were no casualties, but one of the SUV’s tires may have been flattened.
Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper said she finds it disturbing that someone would fire a gun in a busy parking lot and at the tires of a car.
“Once fired, the bullet could have easily ricocheted or fragmented and injured or killed someone else,” Cooper said in statement on Tuesday.
She added that it would have been more helpful for Duva-Rodriquez to have shot pictures of the car’s license plate with her cell phone, instead of firing her gun.
Two Flint men were later arrested and charged with theft.
