DEARBORN HEIGHTS— Some neighborhood residents are reporting that a young man on a bicycle is breaking into homes and robbing them, reported WDIV on Wednesday.
The neighbors said they saw a man riding away on his bike shortly after a house was broken into. One homeowner told the news station that he was robbed twice in less than a week. He was robbed for the first time on
Tuesday, when the thief broke in through his back window and took his computer monitor, television and jewelry.
The victim said he has been living in the area on Evergreen and Warren for 20 years and was shocked to discover that that he was robbed again on Monday.
Neighbors in the area are now installing alarm and surveillance systems due to the home invasions. Over the last two months, there have been three home invasions in that area, according to Dearborn Heights police.
Police also said that patterns in the area invasions are starting to emerge.
During the daytime, the robbers knock at the front door first to see if anybody is at home and then break in if no one is inside.
Authorities say they have some leads on the case and will have a visible presence in the area during the investigation.
They also remind residents to be on the look out and report any suspicious behavior.
