DEARBORN — A 26-year-old man died Wednesday after he was found unresponsive in his east Dearborn home in the early morning.
Ali Hazime was pronounced dead at a local hospital in the late afternoon.
He was poised to get married to his pregnant fiancee in August, according to a neighbor.
The cause of death remains unclear.
Several sources, including friends, said Hazime battled addiction and substance abuse for numerous years.
He graduated from Dearborn High School and attended Henry Ford College.
“He had the best heart, but he was a lost soul,” his friend, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told The Arab American News.
A family member said Hazime’s death was not linked to drugs, adding that he suffered from diabetes.
A string of suicides and overdose cases has claimed more than a dozen local Arab Americans in the past two years.
