CLEVELAND – The attorney for a man accused of “executing” his daughter said the idea that it was a “Muslim honor killing” is “racist and offensive.”
Jamal Mansour, 63, is accused of shooting his 27-year-old daughter Tahani Mansour twice in the head and killing her in the small town of Rocky River.
He is charged with murder, felonious assault and domestic violence.
His attorney, Angelo Lonardo called the case complex.
“Any suggestion that this was a ‘Muslim honor killing’ is racist and offensive,” Lonardo told a local affiliate. “Mr. Mansour is a good man who very much loves his family.”
Lonardo said he would make no further public statements.
The motive behind the slaying remains unclear. Family members of Mansour had said that he had suffered from Diabetes.
Prior 911 calls made to the home dating a few years back had revealed that there was some sort of turmoil between the father and his daughter.
When he initially appeared in front of a judge, Mansour said that he killed his daughter “by accident.”
Mansour immigrated to the United States from Jordan in 1978 and has six children.
Tahani was his youngest daughter. She was a clinical pharmacist at University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center. She was also a clinical instructor at the University of Findlay.
Jamal Mansour is being held on $4.5 million bond. He’s scheduled to be back in court later this month.
