DEARBORN — The Dearborn Library Commission has approved new building guidelines in order to make the Dearborn Public Library a welcoming environment.

These guidelines are for students using the Henry Ford Centennial Library and the Esper and Bryant branch libraries during the final two weeks of the school year.

During the period of June 5 to June 16, all students under the age of 18 must have parental supervision in all three library buildings. For every four students, at least one parent must be in the building to supervise the group during the entirety of their visit. These parents are required to sign a form claiming responsibility for the group.

Additionally, all students must show school identification or other valid forms of identification once they enter one of the three libraries. There will be library staff present at the public entrance doors to greet people and ensure that this measure is taken.

These guidelines have been set for visitors to experience a positive and quiet environment in the libraries. They are also in accordance with advice given by the Dearborn Police Department and have been approved by the Library Commission, the mayor’s office and the City Council.
