DEARBORN — Dearborn police are asking the public to help find suspects who stole several items, including a handgun, from unlocked vehicles in the city.
Officials said the thefts happened in the early morning hours of May 9 and the suspects made off with a gun, wallets, credit cards and other personal items.
A suspect tried to use one of the stolen credit cards at a gas station to make a purchase, they said. He arrived at the gas station in a silver, four-door Cadillac sedan.
Police released surveillance video taken of the suspect in the gas station.
Anyone with information about the thefts or the suspects should call the Dearborn Police Department at (313) 943-2241.
Anonymous tips can be left at the Help Eliminate Auto Theft hotline at 1-800-242-HEAT.
“In light of the fact that these individuals are now in possession of a handgun, they should be considered armed and dangerous,” Police Chief Ron Haddad said in a statement Thursday. “Your help is needed.”
He also urges motorists to be sure to lock their vehicles after parking them.
