Anyone who had the pleasure this week of joining the crowd in downtown Detroit for the annual fireworks display in honor of America’s Independence Day knows it’s true that the Motor City is making a real comeback.
International River Days kicked off the week-long celebration and grand opening of the Detroit International Riverfront, a development that brings Chicago’s Navy Pier and San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf to mind. Against that backdrop The Parade Company, Target, General Motors and Charter One put on an astounding rooftop party and fireworks display.
The Parade Company was founded in 1984, a non-profit organization designed to manage and present fantastic family events to Detroit and its suburbs, like the International Freedom Festival, the Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Independence Day fireworks, all of which are nationally known and treasured.
The Fourth of July and Thanksgiving are two major secular holidays that can be and are enjoyed by all Arab Americans. As a community, we should all participate fully in supporting The Parade Company and enjoying its productions. To volunteer or contribute financially call 313.432.7831.
