DEARBORN — As a long-time pharmacist, Hussein Smidi has always been interested in health and wellness issues. In recent years, he began to notice that something health-wise was missing in his own life and the lives of his customers, however.
“I come from a third world country, and I came to realize that what we put in our bodies (in the U.S.) is just not as nutritious,” he said on Sunday, Oct. 2 at presentation on the Balance 74 health system with international nutrition expert Dan Sienkiewicz at the Dearborn Community Center on Schaefer Road. Dozens of people attended including some who had been praying inside.
“I’m sure like most of you I’ve always wondered about our grandparents and parents, these people live to be 120 years old with very little support in terms of no hospital systems or medications for diseases.
Nowadays we can eat a well-balanced meal and still be hungry an hour later…It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize something’s not right.”
This realization led Smidi to connect with Sienkiewicz, author of the book “Health 101 for Doctors and Dummies,” to help promote a system for providing total health.
Sienkiewicz, who recently returned from a trip to the Amazon jungle to treat malnourished natives eating too much “Westernized” processed foods and to discover its unparalleled natural medicinal secrets, helped develop the Balance 74 system out of necessity. He said many Americans don’t realize how much they’re missing in their daily diets.
He presented lists of the 72 trace minerals that were originally found in most fertile soil that has been vastly depleted in industrialized nations due to overuse of pesticides and lack of sustainable techniques.
Those minerals are abundant in remote parts of Peru, Pakistan and Russia for instance where natives live to be as old as 150 in some cases because of their nutritious and disease-preventing food.
“I believe God made health available for everyone on the planet and if we obey his rules, we’ll be taken care of, Sienkewicz , who grew up in Hamtramck, said.
“But simply put, we don’t have what they have which is why I developed the program.”
Focusing on a wide assortment of different products that are ideally taken together to provide minerals, macro and micro-nutrients in their natural forms as opposed to the synthetic vitamins created in Chinese labs in some cases, and support for pH and hormone balance, the Balance 74 Body Science program was created with a simple approach to health in mind.
“I started the program on the first day of Ramadan, which was perceived to be a difficult fast this year because of how long the days were, and at first I was dreading it,” said Smidi.
“Usually Ramadan takes a toll on me, but since the first day, it has provided me with energy I’ve never had…I now believe God intended for health to be simple but man complicated it too much.”
The program is fully safe and all-natural and is a combination of various high-quality supplements hand-picked by Sienkiewicz, who hopes to combine them all into one product soon. He said that his top piece of advice is to always take supplements in combination with others or with a balanced meal and also said that about “99.9%” of the supplements on the market contain synthetic ingredients or minerals from crushed rocks that are not absorbed well.
