DEARBORN — On Sept. 7, Dearborn Police dispatch received a 911 call from a citizen about a suspicious white male, who was peering through the gate at the rear of the secured Dearborn Police Parking lot. The citizen advised the dispatchers that the white male was carrying a foreign object that he had removed from a vehicle.
The subject then crawled under the locked gate and was lying under a police vehicle when he was apprehended by Dearborn Police Officers. Officers found a loaded Winchester .30-30 caliber rifle, concealed in a green shirt, lying next to the subject. The 50-year-old subject was transported to Oakwood Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
Chief Haddad said, “Thanks to an alert citizen getting involved, a tragedy was averted.”
