DETROIT — Detroit police are still searching for the armed gunman who shot and killed gas station clerk Mohamed Zokari after 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
The shooting occurred shortly after Zokari started his shift. About an hour later, his body was discovered by a customer who entered the store.
Zokari had a permit to carry a concealed firearm. Authorities believe the shooter stole his weapon after murdering him.
The Clark gas station is located at the corner of seven mile and Schoenherr on Detroit’s east side. Police did not receive a call about the crime until 7:15 a.m.
Zokari, who worked at the station for two years, is survived by his pregnant wife and young son. Detectives are investigating whether Zokari was targeted.
