DETROIT — Five-year-old Donovan Lyles Jr. was shot in the face on Detroit’s east side during a drive-by shooting on Tuesday. According to reports, Lyles was struck in the face by a bullet that entered the window of a home on the 20200 block of Irvington near Eight Mile and I-75.
The bullet went through the window and through the couch before striking the child. He lost an eye and is listed in critical condition. According to officials, the home was shot at several times. Lyles was watching television when the incident happened. He has already undergone two surgeries. The child’s grandfather ran downstairs when he heard the gunshots and called 911.
