Washington, D.C.-Brigitte Gabriel, founder and leader of ACT for America, an organization whose mission is to “protect America from terrorism,” plans to meet with the White House, according to reports.
Gabriel also tweeted that she was “In D.C., preparing for my meeting at the White House. What topics would you like me to address?”
The Southern Poverty Law Center has designated ACT for America as a hate group, naming Gabriel, the pseudonym for Hanah Kahwagi Tudor, as a member of the country’s “Anti-Muslim Inner Circle.”
CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad expressed opposition to the meeting as a reinforcement of the promotion of Islamophobia permitted by the Trump administration.
“No White House official should be meeting with the leader of a hate group that is one of the main sources of growing anti-Muslim bigotry in our nation,” Awad said. “This meeting should be cancelled immediately and an explanation should be offered as to why it was scheduled in the first place.”
Gabriel has repeated that Islam is a “real enemy” to America and that a Muslim “cannot be a loyal citizen. When asked once by the Australian Jewish News whether Americans should prevent Muslim-Americans from seeking political office in the nation, she replied, “Absolutely.”
