FARMINGTON HILLS ― A 16-year-old boy is facing murder charges for allegedly pushing his mother out the window of their home.
The teen is accused of the first-degree murder of his mother, 35-year-old Nada Houranieh, a personal trainer at Franklin Athletic Club.
Prosecutors say the teen threw her out of a third-floor window of their Farmington Hills home on Howard Street early Monday morning, while Houranieh’s two younger daughters, ages 12 and 14, were in the house.
Prosecutors say the mother was found lying on the pavement and that it was premeditated.
The teen, in shackles and handcuffs, didn’t show any emotion in court. His father sat behind him and said something quietly to him as he was being led away.
Incidentally, according to published reports, the suspect’s father, Bassel Altantawi, pleaded guilty to medical fraud last March. He and the victim were in the process of getting a divorce, and he currently lives in an apartment in Canton.
Prosecutors are recommending he be tried as an adult at his hearing scheduled for August 30.
