Fox 2 Detroit announced Thursday morning that meteorologist Jessica Starr took her own life Wednesday night.
“All of us here at FOX 2 are in deep shock and cannot believe that such a wonderful, bright and intelligent individual will no longer be with us,” the station announced on air. Her family and friends will be in our thoughts and prayers in the coming days as we all deal with our grief.”
“It’s tough to be here today, but as a family and thinking of her family, we’re all working to get through this together,” said morning anchor Amy Andrews. “Just keep Jessica’s family in your thoughts and prayers as we go through this.”
Starr, 35, is survived by her husband and two children. She lived in Novi and was from Southfield. She held meteorology degrees from Michigan State University and Mississippi State University.
“Last night we were informed of the heartbreaking news that our friend and colleague, meteorologist Jessica Starr, took her life,” the Fox 2 Detroit Twitter account tweeted Thursday morning.
