DEARBORN —The Beaumont location here, along with similar locations in Trenton and Wayne, has developed a year-round program to provide free screening mammograms to uninsured or underinsured women living in or near these communities.
The program, “Breast Health for Life”, is a joint effort among the Beaumont Breast Care Centers in Wayne and Dearborn, as well as the Karen Colina Wilson Smithbauer Breast Care Center in Trenton.
“We are delighted to offer this service to the community,” said Julie Lafata, supervisor of the Beaumont Breast Care Center, Dearborn. “Generous donors to the Beaumont Health Foundation – and supporters of the annual Women’s Health Care Golf Classic – have made it possible for us to go the extra mile by also providing funding for additional imaging when screening mammograms show abnormal findings.
“Nothing is more important than the health of our community members,” Lafata added. “This program is why philanthropy is so important to us at Beaumont.”
Patient privacy and confidentiality are built into the program, she said.
