DEARBORN – With the new school year beginning on Monday, August 26, Mayor Jack O’Reilly, Jr. has directed the Dearborn Police Department to increase traffic enforcement.
The strict traffic enforcement will serve to protect students from speeders, stop-sign runners and inattentive drivers.
Officers will focus on streets used by students on their way back and forth to school buildings, as well as areas around schools, but drivers should always follow traffic laws.
With children back in school, O’Reilly stressed the importance of drivers needing to pay attention and be on the lookout for young pedestrians and bikers, especially right around school buildings.
O’Reilly meets with the Dearborn Public Schools on a regular basis, including on school traffic safety. Drivers putting children in jeopardy will be ticketed.
