DEARBORN — ACCESS (Arab Community Center for Economical and Social Services) is asking for volunteers for a care package assembly event Saturday, March 22, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the ACCESS headquarters, 2651 Saulino Court, Dearborn, MI 48120.
These care packages will be for shelters, refugees and all those affected by the Southwest Detroit flood. ACCESS announced the event on social media, sharing that volunteers will help compile 1,200 total care packages filled with personal hygiene items.
Families are welcome to attend as there will be activities for children, including card-making for children’s hospitals, crafts and more. The ACCESS Mobile Health Clinic will also be there, providing volunteers with BMI calculations, social and community needs assessments, blood glucose and blood pressure screenings, professional counseling for abnormal results, and screening for caretakers of dementia and Alzheimer patients.
ACCESS is also taking donations of personal hygiene products, including dental and feminine products, new pillows, blankets and non-perishable food. For those that cannot attend or donate items, money donations via Venmo will be accepted as well. The Venmo account is @access_1971.
