DEARBORN – The city of Dearborn is hosting dozens of community events this summer, scheduled across weekends through late August. The lineup includes a summer market, outdoor movie screenings and the annual Dearborn Homecoming entertainment festival, which will take place August 1 to 3.
According to city officials, the planned activities aim to promote community engagement, support local business growth and encourage walking and movement — especially in West Downtown, where some streets will be closed to create safe pedestrian zones and a lively atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.
Summer market
The Dearborn Summer Market — formerly known as the Farmers Market — is one of the main summer staples in West Downtown. This year, it has moved to its new location at West Peace Park, 22271 West Village Drive. The first round took place last Friday, with two more market dates scheduled for July 11 and August 8, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Organized by the West Downtown Development Authority, the market highlights and supports local businesses while drawing visitors to the city’s bustling commercial area to explore its shops, restaurants and venues. The market features local vendors, free children’s activities and information tables from regional organizations.
The opening day hosted more than 40 vendors offering a variety of goods and services, with approximately 60 percent of them being Dearborn-based businesses, according to city sources.
In addition to booths selling produce, food, beverages and handmade crafts, the market provides several free family activities, such as face painting, balloon art, games and caricature drawing. Live music and artistic performances also enhance the experience.
