DEARBORN — As part of the city’s ongoing effort to revitalize and beautify storefronts along East Warren Avenue, Mayor Abdullah Hammoud joined elected officials and community partners last week to celebrate the completion of major exterior renovations at two of the corridor’s recognizable businesses, Al Ameer Restaurant and Cedarland Bakery.
During separate ceremonies held just days apart, Hammoud presented $100,000 checks to the owners of Al Ameer and Cedarland in recognition of the successful completion of façade improvement projects tied to the city’s broader Warren Avenue revitalization strategy.
The improvements are part of Dearborn’s long-term effort to transform the roughly 2.5-mile commercial corridor in northeast Dearborn into a more attractive, pedestrian-friendly and economically vibrant district.
Both ribbon-cutting ceremonies highlighted the buildings’ redesigned façades, which feature modern architectural elements while preserving the cultural identity and heritage long associated with Warren Avenue’s business district.

More renovations expected
City officials said additional storefront renovation projects are expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks as more businesses complete full or partial exterior upgrades through the Warren Avenue Façade Improvement Program.
The initiative is part of a broader city plan aimed at redesigning Warren Avenue to better accommodate pedestrians and shoppers while creating a more unified commercial and cultural identity for the corridor.
Partially funded by the city, the façade improvement program emphasizes high design standards intended to create a visually cohesive and vibrant business district.
Officials say the upgrades are designed to improve aesthetics, enhance safety and elevate the overall experience for residents, visitors and shoppers alike.
The first visible success of the initiative came last September with the reopening of Nadia Pharmacy following the completion of its exterior renovation before the end of the fall construction season.
