Nicholas Tafelski of Dearborn High School and Susan Haidar of Crestwood High School each received $1,500 scholarships for their outstanding essays. They were among 52 students who’d submitted essays.
The event, held at HYPE Athletics’ Warren Ave. facility, also recognized communities, individuals and organizations and their dedication and desire to help the families in need. These organizations are “The Village That Raised A Child.”
HYPE Athletics has partnered with the State of Michigan Rehabilitation Services Department since 2016. Last year, they offered more than 540 individuals with special needs the employment training and support to secure employment.
According to a press release, more than 800 guests, representing corporate, public, community leaders and HYPE families, attended the event.
